d44 spindle bearings and seals

ok so i ordered http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-12221_dana_spicer_oem_spindle_bearing_repair_kit.htm

for my d44 and i go to start putting them in and i have no clue where the seals go.. they gave me like 2 different seals and a spacer of some sorts

anyone use these repair kits before? if so could u let me know where the seals go? like make a diagram or somthing? would appreciate it alot

Its the pretty much identical to the d35 set up. (same spindle bearing and seal actually)

The big rubber lip seal goes on the end of the axle shaft (and seals up against the back of the spindle once it is installed). The plastic washer/spacer goes onto the axle shaft as well.

The small rubber seal goes into the back of the spindle after the bearing is installed.

The small seal actually goes around the shaft also (but does seal around the hole in the spindle when the shaft is put into place).

The gray plastic spacer goes over the shaft first (chamfered side toward the u-joint), then the small seal goes over the spacer (V-groove side against the spacer).

I have always just put it into the spindle after the bearing. Never had any issues?

I guess maybe you could do it that way too. It should just end up on the shaft the same way.

hmm this doesnt really seem like much of a seal.. wouldnt the big outer seal wear fast,b rubbing against the spindle?

Not if everything's greased properly.

i think the seal is sapose to go in the spindle it may end up on the shaft should stay in the spindle thow
