im looking to regear my 94 ranger,10" lift, 35" mickeys, with 4.10 gears because i have a 306 HO motor to put in it so i dont want to gear it too low but i was interested in looking at a u-pull-it to get the whole third member out of an explorer what years would i be looking for and how hard is it to do, should i just regear the one thats on the truck?

4.10 D35 TTBs were never used in Explorers. You need to look in '90-'92 4-cylinder (and some 2.9L auto) Rangers to find a 4.10 D35.

Also, if your transmission has overdrive, 4.56 might be a bit better for your 35s (no OD = 4.10).

As for removing the diff from the beam, you have to pull the axle shafts out (passengerside separates at the slip-spline), then unbolt it from the beam (10 bolts on the front + 1 bolt behind the radius arm).

Hope that helps.

Not one that would fit the HP (TTB) axle...

but according to the tech library axle code D2 is for the rear of an explorer 8.8" LS with 4.10 ratio...

yea but the front 35 after 97 is standard rotation lp differential, and pre 97 is reverse rotation hp diff

im going to pick up a rear axle tomorrow off a 94 explorer the guy says its an 8.8 open diff with 4.10 gears according to the axle tag, but the code on the door says 41???? the ford dealer says its either 3.27 or 4.10.... but im only paying 50 bucks for it so, no loss....

On Ranger '98-up it's High Pinion.

the Explorers switched going into 1995.

The 4.10 geared explorers are all 95-up

In 14years of looking I've never seen a 4.10 geared
first gen Explorer.

The one you are going to get is much more likely a 3.27

The d35 in the SLA trucks is low pinion
