ok so i went and picked up a d35 front end complete hub to hub, however the rotors and calipers nd all that jazz looks like crap , any easy explaniations of a good way to get the left shaft off so i can use my existing parts and just switch the pumpkin with the left shaft and drop it in my rig?

What exactly is "looks like crap"?

If they have some surface rust on them, that's nothing to worry about. If the rotors are deeply pitted or well worn, then I would say replace them.

To remove the rotor and shaft you have to remove:

Locking hub > brake caliper > axle clip & thrust washer(s) > wheel bearing nut(s) > rotor > spindle > axleshaft.

You'll need a 4-prong socket for removing the bearing nuts if you have manual hubs.

well, i havent got to look at it much but i just want to use the existing parts on my truck which is a d35 which is in perfect condtion, and basically sawp the pumpkin, for the gears, also do you know what size the socket is off hand?

it's a funny looking socket with 4 prongs, go to the auto parts store and ask for a wheel bearing lock nut socket for a Dana 44 (they are the same socket, it'll confuse the slower counter guys less)

if auto hubs, all you need is a strong magnet to pull out the locking key and a pair of channel lock pliers to get the lock nut off

hah alright cool man thanks for the info ill see what ican find.

I know the D28 hud socket is smaller than the D35 hub socket. I experienced that when I bought my explorer as my family has had nothing but 1st gens. with the D28.

You need both inner shafts.

Maybe the auto hubs. I know for a fact the manual hubs use the same socket.

I used the same socket on my old Ranger's D28 and my D35. The manual hub socket is the same.

yeah i have manual hubs... so just curious, i think my d35 might have 28 guts... will i be able to trasfer the lockout hubs, caliper, rotors etc. to the new d35 axle?

The only thing D28 on the Hybrid is the pig and inner shafts, everything else is the same.

ok started disasembling the new d35 to clean it up and the left rotor and all came of easy, but last owner of it cross threaded the right spindle, had a hell of a time getting it off but managed to get it off.., bottom line is i need a new spindle (anyone know what thease run ata junkyard, im purtty sure there common as hell) and new set of bearing nuts as im trying to keep both axles in working order.. can anyone shoot me a link to caliper rebuild and maintance?

Rebuild a caliper?

Don't bother, trade them in at your nearest NAPA store for ~$25

I got LOADED calipers (including split pins pads and even copper washers)
for ~$35 not that long ago.

oh rigt on, i figured a set of calipers would run like 100+ ive never had to deal with them before... but 35 isnt a bad price at all =]
