I drive a 1989 ford ranger custom ext 4x4 and i currently have the D28 front axle. I broke a outer u-joint on the passenger side and im wondering if it should be a direct bolt in and if i can use my manual hubs, brake calipers? Will my front driveshaft be the right length as well?

Please let me know.

Thanks, Matt

Do a search please...this has been covered a million times.

The axle itself is a direct bolt in. However, no parts interchange on the axle itself. As for the front drive shaft, if you have a BW1350 transfer case (slip joint in the transfer case) you will have to shorten the drive shaft about 1".

The brake calipers are EXACTLY the same as are the brake pads, they will work.

however from there on you must replace everything else.

The steering linkage is different as are the brake rotors, hubs and the
front driveshaft is a different length.

All the attaching points are the same so the axle itself will bolt right on.

as a special note the brake calipers you have now will not work if the donor for your Dana35 is a 1995-97 Ranger, these used a different (IMO superior caliper design)
which also requires different rotors from the 1990-94 Dana 35 setup.
