So i've been trying to get a smoked u joint out of the passenger side axle, the one closest to the diff. and i just can't get it out. why couldn't ford use regular snap ring ujoints like everyone else??
anyways, does the passenger side axle stub pull out of the front diff like the drivers side, or is there a c clip holding it in from the carrier? i pull and it won't budge. the bfh technique isn't working.

its a 93 d35 thanks

There should be a clip in the carrier. Atleast there was on mine.Oh and be super careful with the seals because they are a bitch to change. :icon_twisted:

there's a clip inside the diff, you have to pull the pig to remove the shaft.

dammit. i've been grinding this ujoint for about 2 hours and it would be a heck of alot easier it i could get it totally out and just stick it in the vice. any suggestions on removing non snap ring ujoints? i've been wailing on it with a hammer but its a determined little bugger.:annoyed:

What do you mean non snap ring. There is a c-clip type snap ring on the inside face of the yoke on the cap. All front axle shaft u joints are like this, besides the TTB Dana 50.

And for the shaft I believe you are talking about, the passenger side inner with the slip yoke. There is a c-clip inside the diff holding it in. The third member must be removed to get at it.

i'm retarded.

i spent a good couple of hours last night hammering on the inside of the caps to try and bust them loose.. they were so toasted and rusty i didn't even see the c clip on the inside of the joint... i'm used to the other style.. snap ring on the outside of the ujoint where you can see it. i had no idea there was even one there.

thanks for the help
