D35/8.8 swap questions...

So, I'm finally going to bite the bullet and do a D35/8.8 swap on the Bronco II. I got a good deal on a '92 D35 and a '93 8.8 rear end, both from rangers. The yard is pulling them for me since I don't have the time to do it myself.

What should I make sure they include when they pull the axles?

Will the D35 drive shaft work with my T-case, or do I HAVE to use my D28 shaft and shorten it?

Is there any benefit to pulling the 1993 Ranger front coils and rear leaf springs for my Bronco? ie: a little more ride height or better weight support/capacity?
Also would the springs bolt right in?

I'm trying to keep this as budget friendly as possible, I found good deals on D35 nitro gears and richmond 8.8 gears. Anyone have a good source for cheap lockers? I'm willing to go used, knowing that they don't wear out the same way a limited slip unit does.

Anything else I should keep in mind?

likely want the t case and front drive shaft for stock suspension unless its a slip style like a 1350..

Depending on which transmission you have, and I don't think the 84s had any of the longer transmissions, neither front driveshaft will work correctly without modification.

Your 84 driveshaft will be a little too long. Any driveshaft from 88 up will have the wrong connection at the transfer case and be a lot too long.

When the guy pulled my D35 they torched the TRE's and scrapped all the steering linkage with the truck. That is all different between the D28 and D35. I gotta track that down yet, it would have been nice if they hadn't ruined it...

Shortening the driveshaft is pretty cheap, I had one done last week for $75.

Newer t-case with the fixed front output would be nice, like Bobby said you would have to get the driveshaft to go with it though.

IMO that is all the 1354 has on the 1350, they are supposed to be a little stronger, my 1350 was faultless though.

Not the pitman but everything else.

8 years ago a new set of springs was $80 from Carquest.

i reused my drag link initially...sometimes all of it....you have to max the sleeves out...which is not a good idea. the outers i think were the same... inners were different. sleeves were same i think as well...



i folded up allot of steering , ripped the sleeves in half bouncing on climbs way too much. kept 1-2 sets of steering depending on where i was going....waterfall at badlands killed it by the 3rd time every time.

Anybody have a part number? I'm getting conflicting info from parts store websites... I'm going to make an educated guess, and say the correct one is the part with the larger center bore diameter.
