d35/44 knuckle swap pics

I'll have to be honest I haven't looked into this swap but it does seem like a quick, cheap and easy way to get better brakes and better hubs. What are the specifics of doing this? Any issues that were not covered here? How does the tie-rod fit? How about axles? I appreciate you posting all the pics, nice work and as rickcdewitt said you are definetly dedicated!

thanks, im not too sure what you mean by off setting the balljoint cause i didnt have a welder handy and you dont have to remove that much from the lower balljoint.the hardest main issue i had was getting this 1 1/2 taper per foot ream, and the junker parts.another issue that might be asked is on the length of the keyway in the f-150 spindle which is different on some years. for example one side has an 83 bronco spindle which had a shorter keyway and the other side had the 92 f150 spindle which was longer but all this doent matter because the threads were the same.the passenger side tierods threads were bigger than driver???other than that i can find any other issues that could come up

the ball joint is custom made with an offset. along with some other custom stuff...

They are called problem solvers. I wouldn't use them. they are specific to keep fleet vehicles on the road because they don't have the time or $$$ to fix it the proper way.

I've got the fully adjustable camber/castor bushings on my truck and I have them dialed in pretty good. I never added the washer on the TRE, but then I didn't flip the taper. I'm running a modified superrunner, low lift and the TRE fit nice in the factory tapers in the D44 knuckles.

Ya a few little things I guess are missing from my write up.

I flipped the TRE and had to use a washer. But like walter said, the little things.

Glad my swap has helped others. Besides doing it for myself I did it to finally get somthing on the net about it as there was tons of talk but not much doing.

I have ben reading as much as i can on the swap and am going to start mine this summer, I have a 91 or 92 explorer D35 to swap in to my ranger after i can find and add some D44 knuckles.

My question is what would be the best donor for the D44 knuckles? Im not sure what to look for in the junk yard...:icon_confused:

great info i def think this should be added to the tech area and the pics are awesome:headbang:
