Weak points of d35
Im thinking about swapping a d 35 in my truck, what are the weak points of it? The main thing ive seen is the wheel bearings are too close together come loose, i have that problem wiht my d28 so would this help me out at all in that area?

The 150ft-lbs spec that the books tell you to tighten the outer locknuts to isn't enough, and is why you sometimes see reports of them loosening. Tighten them to 225-250ft-lbs and they should stay tight fine (this is if you have manual hubs).

IIRC they're also spaced further apart than the D28 bearings.

I still believe that if the bearings are setup properly and the inner and outer locknuts are torqued to the right spec, then you won't have any problems. I put on thousands of km, abused them with 35's on 10" wide rims with very little backspacing and I never had any problems. People who complain about their D35 eating bearings likely aren't setting them up properly IMO.

I had the thing come loose with 31s on 7 inch wide wheels. It wobbled enough to shake the lug nuts loose and mess up the studs. that was a pain in the ass

Actually the D28 bearings are spaced further apart..

I do agree though, if you set them up properly, you'll never have a problem..

Is there really a disadvantage to a D35 though, when being compared to a D28?

Get the D35 and DONT look back. Even a D28/35 is a huge step up from a D28.
