Can you help me with this? When I got home today this was hanging down back near my rear tire. What is it?! The wires are connected to the license plate lights and the tail lights. My dad said the big gray hose looked like it headed towards the gas tank. Also i realized that my whole spare tire...bracket thing whatever you wanna call it, is all rusted out. So if someone has information on that, it would be appreciated.

Part of your evaporative emissions controls/vapor recovery system.

In sort it's the "charcoal cannister" that collects fuel vapors .

If it isn't there the engine managment will have a full-on conniption.

welp time to break out the zip ties and duct tape at least til you can fix it properly that is.

i just went out and looked at that thing on my truck. it is suppost to be tucked up in the front, on top of the spare tire carrier and it does link up with the gas tank on top.

Yeah, I can use the welder in the shop at school. But There is so much rust idk where would be the best place to put it. The bed brace thing underneath is rust free. Is that a good place to put it? The bracket for the "canister" is rusted out, I might be able to make a new one.

hhmmmm...maybe zipties and duct tape is the way to go then. and on another note, do you really want to weld a canister that had gas fumes in it to something?

Zipties are your friend! I currently am using them on... the slip joint boots.. all of them! Both sides!

Holding up wire for the front fog lamps..

Holding up the vent tube for the rear axle...

Holding the plastic inside fender thingy back so it doesn't rub when I turn left!

Nhaz, by any chance have you also replaced your seat belts with zip ties?

It's up there with two pipe/hose clamps right now. I don't think it will be going anywhere. Zipties are ftw though, so adding them may improve my HP.

Good to hear! i reccomend always having a few sizes of them in your truck along with duct tape and electical tape.

Yeah, I got a few goodies in the cab. Waiting to get a toolbox for Christmas though.:headbang:

evaporative emissions controls...I'm pretty sure this is the mofo thats causing me to have a CEL. The shop said they can clean it or something... ? Sorry for the partial thread jack
