so i broke the exhaust manifold bolts on my 93. obviously i had to remove the cylinder heads to i can get them out. turns out this requires dismantling the majority of the engine. it sucks. i hate knowing that so much is apart. idk who designed the layout of the 4.0L but they should be shot. it shouldn't be that complicated to remove certain parts

did you heat the studs w/ oxy acetylene before trying to remove them? and if you think that '93 is bad, take apart a newer truck engine. around 2005 or later.

no. i don't really think it would have made much of a difference anyway. they were pretty bad. i might just get new manifolds when all this is done too.

Removing cylinder heads on ANY engine requires dismantling the majority of the engine.
