Maybe ok for little around put-putters, but useless for anything heavy duty where miles n miles are concerned.
Our gas motor home with a V-10...
when traveling we generally run around 350 miles a day. Can't see any type of afforadable electric motor with batteries powering that.
Yes, big rigs with electrics have been proposed, by Tesla. But thats big bucks. Your not gonna find it in a $100 grand rv.
Maybe in the future hydrogen power, but not electric when you can only go a certain distance before batteries have to be recharged for hours and hours.
Oh yeah, for you 4 wheelers, when you go out in the boonies for a few days, let me know how many charging outlets you find 50 miles from nowhere.

We went up north camping and riding a few months ago.

Theres no power up there at my buddies land so an electric truck woulda really put a damper on things. Considering its 400 mi round trip and we were towing about 4500lbs and a bunch of gear.

The ol 460 did great.

Current Tesla Model 3 have over 300 mile range and they weigh around 1000 lbs less than the new rangers. I bet you could easily fit more batteries in a truck body vs a car body and get a mid or full size truck with over 400 mile range

I actually think the tesla semi would make a sweet motor home cab. would take some custom modifications but they're estimating range to be 500 miles, and remember this is all pretty new tech with major advancements being made all the time. My 92 ranger got 18 mpg. my 2019 ranger gets 22. so in 27 years they only managed to get 3mpg difference? In the 5 months we've owned a model 3 the performance has increased 10% and battery range 5%. That was free over the air update that cost me nothing.

The fastest tesla superchargers can charge 1000 miles per hour. so 30 mins and your ready for another 500 miles.

Sure once you're fully offgrid there may be complications, however if you have solar panels you can generate electricity for free. There is no way to "generate" gasoline when you have none

Watch the video TFL truck did towing a measly 4000lbs with a tesla SUV.

It barely made the 65mi loop on the charge, and that was after running 50 in a 70 and killing the A/C. Totally unacceptable in my book.

I 1000% agree. Diesel/Electric setup like a train would be the ultimate for large and heavy vehicles.

Ford had built an electric powered Ranger years ago. I had said that I'd like to build a 4x4 offroad electric Ford Ranger.

Hell, even Bigfoot has an all electric monster truck.

It will be interesting to see what the market offers in the near future.

I do, usually 3-4 times a week.

Diesel or gasoline over electric on a locomotive setup would be awesome.

However:

I will not even be a passenger in a vehicle with WiFi capabilities or with ANY form of data streaming, full stop. So anything manufactured after 2015 is probably out, along with all full electrics.
