Hello,

I'm doing 1 inch lift on my 96 ranger 2wd 2.3 using 1 inch pucks from Perfor. Access. and longer Fastenal Metric bolts. I don't think I will need the steering extended with 1inch other people didn't, but to each his own ...I might run into that problem as well as other problems. So I was wondering has anyone ever Fabbed a custom steering extension for a ranger with power steering in the 93 to 98 ranger or if they are different, within the 95 to 97 range of rangers. Any ideas on where to start or what could work?

Thanks,
Jason

The change in length of the steering shaft when lifting the body (especially only 1") is negligible. A 3" body lift only requires a 1.25"-1.5" extension of the steering shaft. There is enough travel that the 0.5" of increased length won't even be noticed.

Thanks alot thats a real relief scratch one problem off the list.

i noticed you have a chevy k1500 the year will be way off but I was wondering do you know if older k25's like a 60-64 are in demand do people like them that is? i picked one up for 500 because I heard chevy's drivetrain wise were cheaper to fix up as far as rebuilds plus you can go with a crate which are cheaper than say doing a motor in a ford restore, not to mention it was only 500 for a 4x4 project with full drivetrain still there. BUt anyways do people like these old chevy 4x4's you don't see to many? Looking to rebuild resell, I will anyways but just was wondering, lol i don't know to many chevy guys to ask.

Thanks,
Jason

A 60-64 4x4? Wow. Those are rare, in fact I can't say that I've ever seen on in person. I'd definitely rock one around town during nice weather. :icon_thumby:

I've got a 1" lift on my '87 and no extension was necissary.

Really? There's a '60 or '61 4x4 sitting in a yard up by my grandparents house...and I have seen a lot of them around, just can't think of any other specific ones. Regional thing maybe??

I don't see too many older than '73 or '74 (whenever that bodystyle came out) that are 4x4.

4x4's were not common at all back then for anything other than a Jeep or a Jeep knockoff.

Seems like around here there are a lot of 67-72 Chevy 4x4s, a few of the 60-64s, and obviously a lot of 73-87s. I am starting to see a lot less 80-86 F series trucks too...I won't lie, I get a little chub every time I see a nice one of those.
