If I take out my front 40/60 bench seat, can I install bucket seats up front and put my old drivers seat in the back? NOTE: It's an extended cab. I got a baby on the way and I will not put the car seat on the jumper seats, for obvious safety reasons, but can I squeeze a full seat such as my current drivers seat in the back/center with factory restraints so I can install a car seat on it? Will it fit?

Anything is possible with enough time, money, parts and torches will allow.

yeah ....... not in a super cab ...... sorry, you would need a crew cab....... or as gwaii says .......... anything will fit with a sawzall and a welder.

It is a very common thing in the prerunner scene to put 3 bucket seats in a ranger. 2 in the front and one right in the middle of the back. I don't think it would take much work to get at least the passenger seat back there. When I started setting up my truck I originally put it together with 3 stock buckets and then switched out for race seats once I got it running.

I will try to measure it out. I figure if the bucket seats are narrow enough, I can center a small full chair, prob my current driver because its as small as I'll find, and just build a mounting plate so I can take it off n on if I ever had to

That's exactly what I'd want to do. But it'd have to be a normal seat for a car seat, not a 4 point

im notsure why you fear the jump seat so much. i used one with a child car seat with no issues, everything was strapped down good, child seat was secure and not moving from its spot. only p.i.a. thing was it was a '88 s/c, so you had to put the child in/out through the passenger side, kinda walking on your knees while carring the child. but she stayed put, now i have a '93 s/c, the "child" is 16 and can barely fit in the jump seats anymore, in fact she kinda hates it now when we take the ranger. i dont think theres any way to have a normal seat in the supercab area of a ranger. a F150/250, sure, the bench seats i recall seeing in them would workout just fine in stock form alone. maybe if you put buckets in the ranger and in the very middle of the back of the supercab you could U-bolt a child seat to the floor of the cab. thats the only way i could see things working for you the way you would like.

let me understand this. You want to fab a seat, by yourself into a ranger to put you kid into.

so with the kid, do you not want it? your asking for bad things to happen with this one. im sorry, but i would never put my childs life in the hand of my fabrication skills. If you need something that bad, sell your truck, but for gods sake dont put the kids life in danger.

Oh no, I wouldn't ever do that. But if i got a seat, attached a steel plate to the bottom of it, and put heavy duty bolts through it and the truck body that would be very strong and the seatbelt mechanism is still to factory standards

Just because u can't fabricate doesn't mean that no one can. Making mounts to attach a seat in the middle of a ranger isn't that hard. I would suggest using the smaller seat from the bench in the back. The bigger side is going to be too wide to make mount easy.

For safety sakes I say ' no way '. I have asked several off road builders in our area and they say ' NO ' as well. Use a car or get a 4 door truck. It you were ever in an accident and that seat comes loose or gets crushed you are gonna be in big trouble if you do it yourself. If you had it professional built and installed it would be so much safer. Personally, I don't know anybody who would do it for safety issues.

I wouldn't do it without knowing its safe but as long as there's enough metal on metal welded, I don't see how it could possibly move
