Custom interior

Actually, this is my first project of this magnitude. I've done some motorcycles, and fixed up a few old vehicles, but never down to the nut, bolt and stitch like I am on this Ranger. There are SO many more parts on a modern vehicle than a motorcycle. My last build was this little 250cc Can Am powered drag bike. Hard to believe it started life as a motocrosser!

Cool bike. Rat Fink?? First time I've seen him in a while. I figured you were a lot older than what your profile says.
You do have a really nice project going. Be sure to keep us posted on your progress.

Finally got a picture shopped up of my interior, mostly just the door panel. Might have a full interior done up sometime soon by another member if he feels like it. Don't need it much though but it would help. I'll edit it in if he does.

What do you all think? Seats obviously won't be that color its not possible, and the carpet would be darker. Probably going with a black seat cover but with a red center portion. Along with a bucket swap. (maybe) And new seat covers of course.

^ That really looks good.

Thanks, I would probably go with a Black Matte or Semi gloss finish on the plastic parts, but I have no clue where I would (locally) find a dark red fabric dye.

When I can afford to, I'm going to test this out on a panel from a junker in my yard. Just to make sure it doesn't come out crappy. :icon_thumby:

. . . but I have no clue where I would (locally) find a dark red fabric dye.

I haven't the need yet, to restore those kind of door panels, but I've thought about it. I think that the upper trim piece could be removed and recovered with new fabric. And the lower piece looks to be a thicker, more carpet-like fabric direct glued to the plastic.

Sooner or later I'll be having to redo the same style interior, so I'll be looking at scoring new fabric and carpet, and just doing a recovering job on the fabric trim parts of the door panels.

I do like that black and red color combo you're going with, though. It's stock-looking, but a lot sharper than stock. Good luck, and be sure to post up when you actually git 'er done.

I'm also worried about needing a completely different type of paint for the softer arm rest. Maybe I will get away with just the regular stuff.

My Ranger is a Custom, the interior is rather lackluster... not that I would change the overall scheme too much though.

I did paint the fuse panel and glove box, and right after I reinstalled them I wished I hadn't... but I can't find the original color to repaint it so I am stuck with it until I repaint the whole lower part.

I spray painted the wood grain dash on mine black and love it! I've thought of painting the trim piece that runs all the way across too to tie it together a little bit, but haven't gotten around to it.

here are a few

Here is the gauge panel that I made for my Ranger. Now I just need to get the rest of it together.

Any custom pics of bronco II out there? I have done the overhead console, and dome light from the explorer in my 88 BII, I am working on the headliner and as soon as I get that done I can start putting the interior back in. I am still looking for some seats to swap and thinking about swapping a dash from an explorer if that is possible.

That dash is awesome frank. Is that an origanal dash that you modified? It is very nice.
