custom bumper question

[964x4Ranger]

I've been kicking around the idea of building a front bumper for my 96 ranger. Here recently we had some bad weather with snow and ice that hit while i was at work and i had a man in a F-150 slide my truck into a pole an bent the stock bumper like a pretzel. I was wondering if anyone had any good bumper building threads so i can get an idea of what im about to get into.

I've always wanted a nice, straight chunk of railroad track hung on the front of my truck as a bumper...my old man left me a smaller chunk that makes a dam*** good anvil.
