Has anyone bought a dana 44(front) from them? I'm wondering how much it would be to get one all set-up, ready to go in the front for a SAS... and if they are worthe money ya shell out for it...

Here's what i'm lookin to do, if it helps...

4.88 gears, maybe 5.13
ox locker(preferably)
coil/shock application

I know they are already narrowed up and everything, and the housings are a near perfect fit for rangers, but the price tag and quality...

I'd guess, all dressed and done with that locker you are looking at close to $3000 at least. With that kind of money you could build a couple axles.

For the same price you could find a Dana60, have it narrowed, do gears and the locker yourself and be into it less.

Any machine shop will narrow a dana 44/60 right? Thats mostly my concern, was about getting it narrowed cause my truck is my DD and can't have the police getting after me about havin my axles too wide

I'd rather do it myself too! Then i can actually "build not buy" my truck :) but it'd take me a while to build it--- PROJECT!--- i'm a youngin so still learning, but learning quick

Narrowing the axle itself is not really hard. Local 4x4 shops can usually do it for a lot cheaper than a machine shop (a few people around here will do it for around $100)

It is narrowing the shafts that is harder because new splines have to be cut.

Well the closest 4x4 shop to me is about 50 minutes away, as the closest machine shop is about 10 minutes... but he's pretty pricey about doin anything! So basically get a 4x4 shop to narrow the axle and a machine shop to do the shafts

Thats a lot cheaper than i thought it would cost, for the axle. I thought to narrow it would cost like $300-400

Don't quote me on that...it just depends on who you know. Most of the people who do it around here just do stuff like this as a side job, or just know how to do it and have the tools.

They make some nice stuff, I have one of their 9" housings. But I dont have any experience with their front axles. Unless you need a custom width I wouldnt bother with having them build one.
