hey guys i get diesel power magazine, and this month they had a 98 ranger with a 4btcummins swapped in. the truck was lifted and was packing a dodge fullsize tranny and a ford 9inch rearend. i currently have a 99 with a 3.0 but i dont wanna use this for a swap. im thinking of getting a 95-97 extended cab 4x4 4cylinder or 6 with either a high mileage or blowen engine. i want the old style so i can lift the ttb front end easily and cheaply. im looking to find a 4bt cummins out of a frito lay delivery van or so, along with the turbo 400 tranny with it. i think the turbo 400 tranny which was used with the engine should be able to hold up. i can also get my hands on a 9inch for next to nothing. does this sound like a bad idea? i think i can get around $5000 for my truck, and this would be my budget for the new project. any comments? better ideas on parts etc. lets hear em...
