what did you make yours out of , i just learned how to weld in college and now that i have a design was thinking of making it myself

i didnt read through every post, hope he put a solid axle under there. i usualy prefer the ttb, but in this case id want to upgrade the front end. looks good, i only wish i could do that to mine. some day it may get a 302.

I made mine of 3/16, 1/4 and 1/2" plate, as they're both winch bumpers unlike his. His is a little too thick for my taste, and his truck is still SLA, no solid axle as it is 2wd.

ok i just skimmed a few pages of this but where did he get the motor, im looking to put a 4cylinder diesel in a 86 hard body and wanna know where i can get one with the 4wd cause its going to be a trail tuck and i want the bottom end torque

the 4BT was used primarily in commercial applications, usualy cube vans (like the frito lay and UPS guys drive).

Im pretty sure the motor cam out of a small kabota tractor and the tranny came from a van like wicked said. I personally like the truck, Maybe its just cuz i am gonna be a diesel tech, but diesels in rangers are badass. I think it looks sweet, may not be a trail truck but it still is cool.

i didnt know the 4bt's were used in kabotas

i think most cube vans use chevy transmissions (someone correct me here). search around on the net, im sure there are a bunch of adaptors for various transmissions available (its a common swap). you'll use whatever transfer case goes with the transmission.

the motor came out of a komatsu excavator , i have the issue of diesel power with this truck in it , i only bought it because the ranger caught my eye , and i am pretty sure it has a dodge ram trans in it IIRC it is like a 46RE or something like that

and wahlstrom , could you pm me with some pics of your bumper , i want to make one that i can put a winch , and the ones he designed were set up for a winch , but if i can do it my self alot cheaper , i would love to

cool, thanks a bunch for the info and i dont think im going with the hard body, im thinking an old 2500 or 250 style truck that can handle the weight with less work to make it stiffer, but im just waitin to see what comes availible

yea like that kid built that himself and paid for it all.
why waste your time making a truck look all 4x4 when its a 2wd. love to see him jump that truck, give him 10 ft and the spindles shear. should have a solid front axle. dont like the truck.

I'm pretty sure its 4x. i have the mag somewhere but ill check, but i think it is 4x.
