CT Register A Donor Car?

Hey guys, I'm buying a mountaineer that runs but is in rough shape for nothing this weekend. I live in CT and can't find any info on DMV about registering a non operational vehicle. It would be non-op the second I bring it home because I'll be ripping the V8 out. All I can find is renewing non-op registration and turning a normal registration into non op.

Anyone had this issue?

My plan as of now is just ask the DMV when I get there in person with the title. There's no way I'm paying full reg and insuring a non-op car.

first welcome to trs, when i seen your user name the first thing that came to mind is the EricTheCarGuy from youtube that has all the car repair vidios.
that sounds like a good parts donor you have there. kind of shitty if you have to deal with dmv for that. here in PA. you would just go to a notory and have a salvage title issued pay 50 bucks end of story the vehicle is now considered junk and out of circulation.

Yeah, if you are just buying it for parts I would just get it titled and never register it at all if you can.

Some localities may require a vehicle to be registered if it is sitting in its area, usually you get a month though... work fast.

I think it is to keep a bunch of junk hulks sitting around, I would check with your city forefathers and see if there is anything on the books that way if you can't get to it right away.
