Not sure I'm in the right forum for this, but has anybody added cruise to their truck? Is it a pain? Expensive? My trusty (and rusty) 97's having issues, so I'm looking at an '09. Decent truck, but I need cruise.

You can't add factory cruise to an 09. It doesn't work.

Yes, +1 ^^^

2004 and up Rangers were full digital

3rd party is an option, you need to find the room for the vacuum actuator in engine bay and then add a sensor and magnets on drive line near transmission, this is the speed sensor.
Some 3rd party kits might have a way to use Fords speed sensor(OSS) on the transmission.

Then dash mounted or turn signal stalk mounted controller

I've never been under the hood of a later Ranger. What do you mean "full digital"? Is it drive by wire, or is there still a throttle cable?

The instrument cluster, Body computer, and PCM(engine/trans computer) are all linked.
Instrument cluster was the big thing, many liked to swap these out, with the link you can't, engine wouldn't start without from the Factory matched cluster.

So adding Factory electronics to the system can be a challenge, if the "system" thinks it was tampered with it won't start.

1983 to 2012 Rangers didn't get drive by wire.
