So after doing an automatic to manual swap conversion in my 1990 ranger, the cruise control doesn't work anymore. I've tried looking up which wires control it and came to the conclusion that it seems it works with the vss which is the plug next to the speedo cable correct? Anyway I sautered those back to gether (since I was a dumbass and cut em duuring the trans swap) and the cruise control still doesn't work. Could it be the ecu? I didn't check whether the donor vehicle (1990 mazda navajo) had cruise control or not. Any other ideas or things for me to check?

VSS signal is what cruise uses to control throttle, but first you have to get it turned on.

There should be a switch on the brake and clutch to disable cruise. If they are not wired properly, cruise can't come on because it thinks you are trying to stop or have the clutch in.

Time to get out the wiring diagrams and trace them out one at a time.

Okay thanks. This will get interesting as I don't have the clutch switch plugged in lol maybe ill try pluggin that in. If it doesn't work ill pull up some diagrams and get at it. Ill let you know what happens

Still doesnt work. Thinking it may have something to do with not having the right wiring there for the manual trans. Oh well I guess I can live without it. Plugged the clutch pedal switch in along with the wiring for the vss. Now I have three codes; 29, 66, and 14. My truck idles way low. Usuallu idles at just about or under 1000rpm. So now here's a new problem. Made sure maf was tight, unplugged vss wires, and then cleared codes. Now throwing code 11, system checks ok. Still have the wierd idle problem. Lol if its not one thing its another
