Cruise control won't engage

1994 Ranger with 4.0L, manual trans. - cruise won't engage. The light doesn't even come on. Is the most likely failure the switch in the steering wheel? If so, is cleaning an option or just replace? I haven't even checked to see if you can still buy the switch.

I would check the fuse first and jump to the switch or module under the hood.

Yes, there are a couple of fuses to check.

Does the horn work?
That's one fuse, it powers the ON/OFF cruise button

You need both
Fuse numbers can change yearly so they are not specific in the drawings, could match your year but may not, but the wiring itself will be correct
