Cruise control not working

I bought my 99 ranger about a year ago and at the time the cruise control was working fine. Then it started to work intermittently and now if it does work it will be for about a second then it will kick off and not come back (for like an hour, a day, a week, etc... really random).
I've tried jumping the MC switch and that did nothing, I even replaced it (still nothing).
I ran a self-diagnostic today and it passed just fine.
I currently do not have any cel codes (I had an IAC code and a gas cap code (or whatever its called) but I fixed both of them).

I'm now out of ideas and would love to get my cruise control working again since I'm now doing at least 30 highway miles a day going to school. Any ideas would be appreciated.

There are a few Fail Safes on cruise controls it reads like one of these is causing the issue since it starts but then stops when a fail safe doesn't have the correct settings.
