I just bought a 93 ranger supercab 4x4 with a 4.0 and i've worked almost all of the bugs out of it. one of the only things left to do is fix the cruise control. the fuse is good, but nothing happens when i hit "on" and "set acceleration" also, the cable is hooked up correctly. is there any common problems with the cruise control units or is mine just broke?

i think it may be a problem with rangers because i have a 92 and mine dosent work either. if i find anything out ill let you know

Try changing the module out. It SHOULD be located under the dash @ the glove box. Once you flip your glove box door down, it should be visable. It's green in color with two multiple wire connectors on it... one grey and one black.

I can send you the schematic for that.

PM me your e-mail address.

very common??

I have a 2002 2WD used as a daily driver, when I push the button and set the accel I get my cruise control ligh but nothing else. Where would the module be on a 2002?

Try removing the steering wheel and cleaning the contacts for the cruise control buttons.
It worked for me on my '88 when the cruise stopped working.

ssmith Ford sent me a letter saying there was a recal with the 2002 ranger cruise control, you should look into that... it's free! They just threw a new adapter in there under my hood.

I will look into that, it would be the best. At 160k miles I couldnt complain.

already done

Ford has already did their fix on my cruise control, they replaced a harness on my master cylinder that could burst into flame if the brakes leaked. I am back to looking for the problem myself.

One thing I'd look into is the vacuum line running to the controller on the left fender. On mine, I took the vacuum line off, and the hard plastic instantly snapped when I pulled on it. That may be your problem.
