cruise control isn't working what could it be?
mine in my 1993 4.0 doesn't work ut my friends p.o.s 88 solid rust all round works great!!!!!!!! help me out?!

Check to make sure your brake light filaments aren't burned out.

After that check the condition of the vacuum lines and verify that the fuse isn't blown.

After all that THE #1 most likely cause for cruise control non-function
is a dead VSS sensor.

If your '93 is an auto trans you'd already have a check engine light if the VSS wasn't working. and that's not necissarily true on a 5sp truck.
(and on an auto the trans wouldn't shift to 4th.... EVER)

A good way to test the vss wire is with an analog VOM (a digital won't refresh fast enough). Put the black lead to ground, and the red lead on the Gray/Black wire on the cruise module. Set the meter to R x 100

Now roll the truck, the needle should bounce back and forth if the vss is working.
