Cruise control button lights?

OK - new member, 1st post. TRS is a great resource. Learning lots

99 extended cab, 4 cyl 5 speed
Cruise control buttons on steering wheel - only those on the right side (passenger side) are illumnated. Left side is dark
Figure there's a light burnt out or a broken wire / connector on the left side.
Fixable without taking off the steering wheel?
Actual bulb that illuminate the buttons or some sort of fiber optic "thingy".

Tips on how to fix?

if it is like the stereo controls in the wifes car you will need to replace the whole switch.

Unless you're referring to stereo controls on the steering wheel, I don't think there's not much linking the stereo and the cruise control - but which switch are you referring to that needed to be replaced to fix the lights (on the stereo controls?)
