Cruddy wheels

I bought a set of aluminum wheels and they are in poor shape appearance wise. The clearcoat is mostly gone but some remains. Also there is bits of corrosion at the edges of the remaining clearcoat. How do I get these cleaned up and looking at least better? What to use to remove the clearcoat without damaging what still looks good. And then what to polish out the rest of the bad stuff?

this one is pretty easy to advise but quite some work to do! First remove the remainder of clear coat ,put some acid on wheels, then either run them or start polishing ! I had a TRUCK (NOT CAR!) WASH acidize mine for a couple of bucks each plus the wash of course. The reason I stipulate the TRUCK WASH is they have the exact acid in barrels that aluminum wheels LOVE -and not a drive thru either (not BLUE BEACON) IT needs to be guys with hand brushes and ask to see the product, it should say brightener and warn against contact with glass as it will cloud your windshield. as for polishing -YOUTUBE has a ton of wheel polishing vids- it is hard thankless work and i gave up after about the first half hour I just noticed you are in WA also -I am in Lakewood/Tacoma near Ft. Lewis
