Because Ford made an agreement with the Saudi's that they would get the neat stuff. People overseas get neater stuff then we do and it is cheaper to do because of the libility claues that we stupid Americans have to put up with. The military and police of other countries used the 4 door Ranger to their needs and still do over there. I have seen some neat miltary 4 door Rangers set up with armor and the 50 cal. guns. Looks killer and it is cheaper then the Hummer and lighter. Ford was going to bring it here but the Explorer was out and they made it into a truck (Sport Trac) and then the plans went down hill after that. I got to drive a 4 door back in 05 that was brought here by a retired Major in the Army up in Ocala. He bought it in Saudi and brought it back to America. it was a hassle for a while he said but he got it here. I don't think he got it tagged for street use at the time I got to drive it. He used it for his property to haul hay and feed around for his pets. I really wanted one so bad. Great ridding truck and very peppy!!!!
It also competes with their F-150 crew cab sells. And with Ford as it is now, we are lucky enough to even still have the Ranger for so long. But the end is nigh, and you just know Ford is brewing up new designs for a replacement Ranger or kill it all together.
In my opinion, I would love to own a crew cab Ranger, especially one in a 4x4 model. My next best favorite vehicle is the S-10 crew cab 4x4. And only if Ford offered a diesel engine in a crew cab, that would seal the deal for me to buy one. But till then, my little 4-banger ext cab Ranger does me just fine.
Damn it! Not again. Lets continuely beat a dead horse. There are various reasons. None of which makes sense. The just do not sell it here. I need a beer.
