crawler 1 tons

Plan sounds good, I just don't see why you moved the rear axle back to begin with?

when i put in the 63inch chevy leafs i used a long shackle insted of moving the front leaf spring hanger forward. anyway however it worked it moved it back because i had the same height with no blocks but my drive shaft meausrement was quite a bit longer.

I kind of like the dove tail look there use to be a black ranger 97 or something with sas either a 60 or a 44 i dont remember but he dove tailed it and i thought it came out real nice i cant seem to find his build again

Does anyone know what number I need off of my frame to cut out and put to my new frame. I really would only need the numbers off the frame if i plan on selling it and i dont see that ever happining but still would like to keep the numbers so it the "same frame."

Are you talking about the VIN Reference code? I have never looked on a passenger vehicle, I know where to find them on a class 7/8 truck.

yea that number ive looked all over my frame and i got 3 different numbers i will just cut a square out of it and just weld it some where on my new frame.

With my limited experience, the number that you need should be the number that corresponds to the last 6 numbers of you VIN. Generally on the drivers side frame rail ahead of the firewall.

EX.
XXXXXXXXXXAX5914

You would find AX5914 on the frame.

well i looked and none of the 3 sets of numbers/letters match my vin number

found it its on the rear pass. on the top eched in real lightly

Sweet build so far! I like the fact you are making a new frame, I should have done it too. I ended up making all new crossmembers anyway and it would make it real easy to flat bottom and mount your links.

heres a picture from a few days ago laying the new frame out pretty much the same dimentions as the stock frame as far as the angles go. 3 feet flat, 20 degrees down 7inches, flat 4.5 feet, up 20 degrees 8inches and flat for 5feet 8in for a total of 188.5 inches Ill build body mount and bed mounts later after putting the cab back on. another good thing about building this frame is the total outside width is 30 inches about the same as stock but the inside width is 26 insted of 24 around the motor so it gives me some more room for the 350 and headers.

since then ive taken it to my buddies shop to tack it all together using his jig to get it close to perfect as i can even though it doesnt have to be perfect nor will it be.

Well got the sides of the frames welded up today was going to use a jig at my buddys shop but decided to just do it on level ground insted. It actually came out really good and im pretty happy with it :yahoo: plan on doing front and back cross members tomorrow then getting the motor into this one and time to start some links :headbang:

Progress is lookin great!

yea its a great welder, probly alot bigger then what i will ever need but figured why not. its even got bead locks and 11 inch ats :icon_surprised:

progress was slow I was beeing lazy today

fawk man thats some nice clean mad fab skillz u got.

ive actually tooled around with the idea of a 350 or 383 swap. way more bang for your money for around the same amount of work as a 5.0

plus 5.0 h.o.'s only come with around 225hp and a 383 with a few mods will make around 425. yea u cant buy motor mounts or headers built for the swap but who cares

nice wheels I need some like that for mine:D
