crappy fuel repair kit!

wow , Im really not happy with the Gas line repair kit I bought from the local auto parts. 10 inch plastic pipe attached to a quick fitting , a barbed connector and a small 46 cent hose clamp. I heated the plastic pipe for 10 minutes to soften it up like it said to, still could only get it 3/4 of the way in. the other side went into the vehicle hose which was pretty dry. same thing 3/4 of the way in.


There has got to be a better way ! 21 dollars for that repair kit! :dunno:

I will go to the bone yard next time and get them !
 
I think I bought the same kit. I thought it would be a quick and cheap fix, BUT I had the same issue and I couldn't get the barbed end all the way in. I think I ended up putting the new hose ends in some boiling water and then using a punch the next size up from the hose end to open the hose a little more. I think I still had a Hell of a time putting them all the way on.
That is also one of the reasons I put AN fittings from the tank to the fuel rail.
