Well I was going to wait until the weekend (have a day off) to change my oil over to 10w40 but I used my last quart of 10w30 today. Since I can't really drive to town to pick up oil when it's down as much as it gets from overnight.. I might have to do a change in the morning.

Or.. I can just throw the 10w40 in and not bother changing it over completely. Will it cause a problem? Pop says that it wont hurt a thing since he does it all the time but I want to get a second opinion before I put my only transportation at risk.

it ain't gonna hurt nothing.

The wrong motor oil is ALWAYS better than no oil.

I'm 99.9999999999999% sure that it won't harm anything.

What do you mean? Is it all leaking out overnight?

It leaks down to about a quart and a half under overnight, I'd fix it but I don't have an engine hoist or the ability to have down time for the Ranger.

It leaks through the pan, on the front, corner, and bottom. I'm pretty sure I patched the one on the side with JB weld, but you never know.

wow, for all you're spending in oil and time, i'd just bite the bullet and get the gasket replaced. it is the gasket and not a hole there i hope. if you can't do that, then there is something better than jb weld. it called Marine-Tex and is sold at most boat places. it's not cheap, but it works amazingly well. i always keep some around and also take it with me on long trips. good luck for sure.

Ive been told that mixnig weights will gum up the oil. But I ve never had a problem with it. And I know your young but you need to learn something now. Always trust pop, no matter what he says. if you find out hes wrong, its better than finding out he's right. Trust me.
