I'm curious. What are you calling a windage tray? I just tore down a 97 3.0l and when I took off the oil pan, there was the crank. Nothing in between. What does it do if you have one?
They are generally used in race engines. Basically a sheet metal baffle that keeps oil off the counter weights of the crank as its spinning which can rob horsepower and it prevents the oil from getting churned up into foam from the "wind" created by the crank spinning at high rpms. They were not used from the factory and are sorta useless on a stock engine.
