While removing my rear main seal using the drill hole, insert sheet metal screw method, I gouged my crankshaft where the seal sits. :fie:
So it seems my only hope now is a speedi-sleeve. Does anyone have experience with these on the rear crankshaft? Any tips or tricks that I need to know of?

They work well, I've used a bunch of them over the years. Dont think I've ever used one directly on a crank before but shouldn't matter (usually need them to fix grooves worn in a harmonic balancer). Clean up the surface on the crank so theres ZERO bur or lip. Then polish it up real nice with some super fine sand paper. It's nice if you can freeze the part you're putting it on but not mandatory. Find/make yourself a nice soft driver from wood or plastic and tap tap tap painfully slow.

I've used them on the 5.0 and the 4.0 and they work.

Well I installed the speedi- sleeve / Redi-Sleeve last night. It was not as easy as the YouTube videos say. You cannot remove the collar when installing on crank that is in the engine. I had to remove the collor before installing on the crank tapped it on using wood. The sleeve seemed to bottom out before it was all the way seated and I can not figure out why.

All that said… I’m not sure I would recommend using one of these when the crank is still in the engine.
