I thought I solved my low power problem. The wobble is the very slightest amount, if I dont concentrate my eyes on that exact pulley I wouldn't notice it. I took it to a shop nearby and they say it's fine. I don't know what to do.
should the wobble be very obvious? Can a very slight amount causes hp loss? My wobble is maybe 1/16" inch. Is that enough to cause problems? any help is greatly appreciated.

my crankshaft wobbles like you describe but my truck runs just great..always wondered about it but it gave me no probs so i forgot about it

ever do a mpg test?

My truck runs very decent, but I only get maybe 18mpg's if I'm lucky.

i know right now i am getting terrible mileage but thats because its cold out..is your ranger reaching operating temperature?
maybe you have a crappy injector or something?

yep reaches operating tempature accordind to dash guage

I don't really know anything about fuel injectors. I don"t care much about low mileage but the problem is I want to tow a 14 foot aluminum boat and right now I can only reach a top speed of 104km/hr full throttle in fourth so I'm assuming my low mileage is linked with my low power.
Without towing the boat my truck can reach about 124km/hr which is all you really need but like I said it would be nice if I could tow my boat.

hey i would try doing some tune-up stuff..check your fuel filter, the conditions of your fuel lines, check your air filter, and i would go as far as taking off your intake and checking out your throttle body..whens the last time your plugs and wires were done? you could even drop in a bottle of that fuel injector cleaner stuff..

also, what RPM is your truck spinning at in 4th at 104 km/h? My truck can easily reach 140+ km/h.....lol the fastest i have had it is 167

the problem is I already did all that stuff

plugs/wires, air filter, fuel filter, I even bought a bottle of air intake cleaner to clean the maf sensor, I tried lots of different fuel injector cleaners/seafoam, and I have no check engine light. The very slight crankshaft wobble was my only hope but even my mechanic said it was fine. Tomorrow I'm going to do a compression check on each cylinder but I change oil every 3000kms and have only 110 kms on the truck so I'm sure compression should be well. I'll let you know what I get.
Also my tranny and diff are untouched from factory gearing isn't the problem, Many years ago I could pass cars on the highway with OD no problem.

you seem to be in the right track..getting a compression check is a good idea. Now, how about your cat? Could it be clogged? This can sometimes hurt performance, but then it is strange why the check engine light won't come on.

:icon_confused:

you have a good one here :icon_twisted:

did the compression test got 130-140psi across all four so that checks out better then I thought

It's pretty cold here in Manitoba and actually my mpg's have gone down to 15.5

Thanks for bringing back a five year old thread. Hahaha!

It's pitiful and funny to me. :icon_rofl:
