Long story short, I took my crank for my 2.9 in to get reground and the shop found a crack in it and replaced mine with one they rebuild a few years ago.
I went to install it this weekend and when I went to check the journals with a plastigage I couldnt get a reading on the mains and could actually look and see the gap around the crank with the plastigage sitting on it untouched. When i checked the rod bearings I was able to get a reading on them. Im hoping that the shop told me the wrong size bearings to buy but I was wondering if there could be any other causes for this.
I went and rented a new torque wrench to make sure my wrench wasn't bust and made sure to oil the bolts well before installing them to get the correct torque.
