My credo
typically the difference between an $8 and a $20 haircut is way more than $12
I have a 1994 2.3 l Ford Ranger manual transmission and I've been getting a code 542. It seems like the times that my power cuts out in my fuel pump and it won't work anymore is in the middle of the hottest part of the day. it's been brought up as a theory that perhaps one of my components in between the relay and the fuel pump is expanding due to the Heat and therefore no longer connecting and that's why I'm unable to restart it until sun goes down and the temperature drops. I wonder if anybody has any experience with this problem and has a solution, or any advice at all thank you.!.

The only component im aware of between the relay and pump in the inertia switch.

Not sure if it would be affected by heat though.

Id say its more possible the pump and/or relay are taking a shit

O had that problem, it would cut off when hot then have to wait awhile before it cranked again ,under the passenger side, you should find a relay I think, maybe under carpet, it's like a relay,I just straight wired it,no problem since

Oddly, I had that same issue with my 95 Accord with the heat in the summer. After researching the Honda forums extensively, I replaced the ECU as recommended, and that was the issue, no more problems after that replacement. I'd look into the ECU, or ask others here on the forum if this could be a possible issue with your Ranger.
