Tha begining; just before I deployed to Afghanistan, my Ranger started to miss and bog down as I was driving for about 30 seconds and then stop and go back to normal driving. Since I have been gone, my brother drove the truck for a little bit and he had replaced the plugs and wires, I had done that about 2 yrs ago when I got back from Belgium. Now my brother did some more checking and is saying the head is cracked. I have found engines for 4-500 bucks, to include the SOHC 4.0.
What would be the issue switching to the SOHC? I have heard that they are less trouble and more power and tq. Is it worth it to put heads, used or new, on tha OHV? I need this truck running before I get back this fall, please help.
