After much thought, I have decided to swap the bucket seats from my parts 86 BII to my single cab 87 Ranger and do away with the 60/40 bench.
I was just going to roll with the bench and maybe throw a cover on it, but I really like the idea of having some extra cab room for other stuff. Since I have bucket seats just rotting in the woods, I figure why not use them for something other than a mouse condo.
One issue is, the BII buckets are quite ratty and have mildewed quite a bit. This originally turned me off from switching seats, but if I could clean them up a bit and throw covers on them they would suit me just fine. Im not going for perfection here, just more room and no mildew. Ive read some stuff on steam cleaning and other seat cleaning info, but I dont have access to a steamer. Whats the 2nd best method for removing mildew from the original seat material? Will throwing them in the washer take care of mildew/mold? Just looking to get them sanitary for a seat cover, not so much for cleaning stains.
Second issue is, the buckets in the BII dont look like "high back" seats to me. They dont look like "low back" either, they kinda look in between to me.
Anybody have some input as to what the BII seats were termed as? Im trying to narrow down my seat cover search and pick out the right fitting ones for when I get the seats cleaned up. Maybe I should get universal fit covers, dunno. Anybody have any suggestions?
Oh, and lastly, these 86 BII seats should bolt onto my 87 Ranger tracks with minimal fuss right? (Or I could use the BII tracks if need be)
Thanks for any replies.
