the 2.3 liter duratec 4 cyl, and the OHC 2.5 liter engines in the 98+ rangers...

are they timing CHAIN or BELT???

how reliable are they 1-10???

edit: i found out the dohc 2.3 is chain-driven but i cant find out what the 2.5 is...
which motor is better/more power?

2.0, 2.3, 2.5 are all belt driven, and require changing every 100,000 miles. It's a super easy job though, these little motors are so easy to work on. See my response to your other post.

They are also not an interferance engine, so if the belt breaks the valves shouldn't hit the pistons. Just retime everything and slip a new belt on.

really? both the 2.3 and 2.5 are non interference motors? that means theres extra room in between the piston and valves so they dont crash when the belt breaks right?

Yup, Ford (unlike other mfrs) hasn't put a timing belt on an interferance engine for quite awhile.
