could use help and advise

i have a 1993 ford ranger 4.0 ohv 2wd extended cab with 178,xxx miles but really not any mechanical issues. to me my truck is a beast http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_hornsup.gif . but i have a few isues i wanted to discuss. one is i have owned the truck for 6 months and hove only been driven the last 4. i am 17 and have a machanical ability and love working on my truck but when it comes to eletrical im kinda lost. there is a aftermarket cruise control on my truck and have use it a hand full of times. but recently i have been having the problem of when cruise is on and i hit the brake the cruise makes me keep going and i almost t-boned a car cuz of it. dose any one know how to fix it or could explain to me how i might be able to?

also the 2nd issue is when im in drive or reverse there is a ticking noise and can be loud once in a while but it only ticks once in a while all i know is its coming from under the cab on up to the motor and i cant seam to figure it out. any ideas? and it dose this in a complete stop to.http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif

The ticking i am not sure but the cruise control it sounds like the module took a shit and get all the spec of the cruise control module and get the wire diagram and go over the harness!!
