I have a 2008 2wd Ranger with the 2.3l and 4.10 gears and I'm in the market for some new tires. The stock tires are 225/70/15's and to be honest they look too small. I'm trying to find out how much bigger i can go without a)regearing (which would void warranty) b)changing the driving/handling/accelration characteristics of the truck much. Thanks!

I picked up my 08 (NEW) from the dealer they had 255/70/16 (31in) on it. I know it's a different rim size but that should give you some idea.

If his is a 2.3L it'll be a 2wd.

You could probably run a 235 or 245 on it. Not sure if the 265 would clear.

Thanks guys...I've been told that i can actually clear 31x10.50 but my main issue is if i put those tires on my little 2wd fourbanger will I need to rear gear from the 4.10 rear axle like others have suggested? If i don't how will affect the way the truck actually drives?

I would try someone's 31's first and see if they fit. I'm guessing since it has those tires that it's an XLT or below model ? As far as re-gearing, you'll have no problems with 4.10 gearing. I run up to 35's on 3.73's with no problems.

I would go with either a 235/75-15 or 30x9.50-15.

Your soooo lucky to have the 2.3 and "4.10's" !!!!
Many people say the automatic will do better with larger tires than the manual.
I believe the manual to be far superior (if you have to work harder at it or not)

I would just check for clearence issues, and go with a newer (standard on 4.0's) 16in wheel, I really like the looks.

I'm running 275x60x17 (30") with a 12mm offset wheel. That's about as big as I can go with a stock 2wd suspension. The only time it rubbed was when I hit a hole while turning.

Thanks for all the help! I had 235/75/15's on my '98 and while i liked the look i think i'm gonna go a bit bigger this time...I'm thinking i'm gonna go with the 30x9.50...thanks again for the responses.
