coolent hose?

These 2 hoses are connected together on my truck. The 2 on top, running from heater hose to intake. I wondered why, and after finding this pic, looking at mine, there are 2 plugs in intake, where I assume hoses would go.

What effect will this have, not hooked up? This is the way it came when I bought truck?

What model is your truck? 2.5L, 3.0L, 4.0L...

I've seen things like this before. It doesn't go into your intake, but your throttle body, by the TPS. Some even do the upper intake manifold. When you said the intake, I thought you meant the air intake tube.

Google engine bay pictures of your truck. That should prove insightful, too.

Mine is a 1999 3.0. Most likely is for throttle body. Pic is a 2000. Does anyone know if hoses should be attached, and what issues, if any, with having it bypassed?

A heated throttle body (similar to what you have described) is a common practice in auto engine design because it is a cheap way to improve emissions.

By running coolant to the throttle body you can warm the air charge and let the engine start running as if it was fully warmed up before it is fully warmed up. This means less time in the "choke" mode, where it is pumping more fuel into the engine to get it warmed up.

Heated PCV valves are also common, especially on vehicles intended for use in cold climates because it prevents icing.
