I have a coolant leak somewhere under the hood. I've looked at the top radiator hose, thermostat, exhaust pipe and radiator cap. I notice the sweet smell of antifreeze outside the truck after i've been driving for a few miles. where could i have missed besides the lower rad hose?

There are lots of places where your leak could be.. Few of them can be seen from a casual opening of the hood! One should crawl their ass under the engine with a flashlight and look very closely for the leak.
None of us here can find that leak for you! You gotta find it yourself.

good big jm a reason flush coolant leak or water fluide cheak under the hood engine on freeze leak

Trucks bottom is dry. Just checked it with a flash light. I only leak I found was the powersteering. Ofcourse you guys can't look for me I knew that.

next step, go to autozoo (or similar place that lends tools) and ask for a cooling system pressure tester. looks wierd but works wonders. remove your radiator cap. install the radiator cap in the the adapter block and pump it up, if it "pops" at 15 psi on the gage your cap is good, if it blows off to early or too late you have a faulty cap. then install the tool on the radiator (just like you would the radiator cap) and pump it up to 15 psi. if the pressure bleeds down more than 1 psi after 10 mins (or doesnt pump up and you have coolant everywhere) you have found your leak. now the fun part, if your coolant doesnt pump up or bleeds down and you have no external leaks, you have an internal engine leak. to check for this, check your oil. if its milky you have a cracked block. if this is fine, remove your spark plugs and pump it up, see which cylinder pours water out of it or you hear a gurgling sound. this will indicate a cracked head/blown head gasket. the other way to tell for cracked head/blown head gasket is engine running at idle and have white smoke from exhaust that smells of antifreeze and loss of coolant without a leak. cheers my friend.

Check around the timing chain cover, I had a leak there and if you run it for awhile the heat from the motor will dry it up making it seem like magic the fan also blows it to different parts of the motor. Check around there for signs of moisture, also check to see if the underside of your hood is wet over by the overflow. Maybe it puked it out the top.
