I have a pretty good coolant leak on my 94 4.0 , it's like a steady drip, almost a stream.. i'm not 100% sure where it's coming from, possibly the waterpump?, and succeptable places that the rangers are known for? i took some pics for reference, not the greatest though...

if you have a block heater than its probably comig from there. I had the same looking leak and it was a small leak in the block heater how it seals in the bore. I used bar's leaks to seal it up

stay away from stop leak, not good. don't block heaters usually go in the side of the block in the freeze plug bores? idk ive never seen one installed on a ranger. looks like water pump? hard to tell in those pics.

The only thing on the front of the engine is the waterpump and the associated hoses. If it's not coming from the radiator or any of the hoses, it almost certanly has to be the water pump.

Does it only drip when it's running?

looks to me like the weep hole on the waterpump. Make sure your heater hoses aren't leaking, take some degreaser to the area and clean it up real good, that should help isolate the area it's coming from, then check the weep hole on the bottom of the waterpump.

I'll venture a guess it's one of your hoses..

check the top heater hose - goes in by the thermostat

check the bottom heater hose - goes into the w/p - you already have a picture.

check top radiator hose... goes into the thermostat,

check bottom radiator hose... goes into the w/p

grab the hose, twist and pull it a little - look for more coolant coming out.

another trick to check is throw some dust on the wet spots, and trace the (new) wet spots back up.

not my preferred way though :/

yeah, it never leaked until i put my truck away for the winter... then one day i started it after it was sitting just to keep things moving and there it was .. yeah not a drop while its cold just as soon as you crank it over.... i'm going home to my parents house this weekend to get it fixed, figured i'll bring some hose and a waterpump just to be sure.. has to be one or the other...

It looks to me like the lower heater hose, but to tell for sure, remove the alternator and look underneath. This will give you a much better view of most of the hose connections.

how hard is it to replace the waterpump on the 4.0 if thats where its leaking from?

it's not hard.. but it's not easy...

hardest part would be getting the fan off the w/p... after that, it's cake - drain the rad, unhook the hoses from the w/p, pull w/p & thermostat (might as well, it's only 3 more bolts) then clean everything up, and reassemble.

why would you say stay away from stop leak maybe should provide some reasoning

If the leaking parts move at all, it will have no effect.

It also has a tendency to plug heater and radiator cores, as well as head gaskets.

Not AT ALL worth the risk to avoid changing a hose.

and the culprit wassss.......

lower heater hose...
