Just rebuilt my bronco 2.9 and after tear down 2 times chasing a coolant leak --first time caught it reasonably soon before the oil became too mixed with coolant --this time was worse as it is pretty foamy. How or what should I do to flush this contaminated oil before it wipes the brand new cam bearings etc. on restart. I just changed to new oil and filter first time it happened and had a lifter slap for about 10 seconds on restart. Is there a chemical treatment to remove the coolant from the water before draining and refilling with new???

I used an engine flush once and it worked OK...it was called engine flush but can't remember the brand. You put it in like oil and run the engine for a few minutes then drain the oil and refill with motor oil.

Only problem I had was it might have loosened up whatever was actually stopping my engine from leaking oil because it soon developed an appetite for it. But the engine was toast anyway...on a new engine not sure if it would have the same effect.

I thought it was recommended to use break in grease on new engines and then change the oil after the first 100 miles or so anyway...then again for the first couple of thousand before actually changing the oil the third time...

could also use kerosene or mineral spirits about 1 quart

and let it run at idle for 5 to 10 min DO NOT REV OR DRIVE then change oil.

Marvel Mystery Oil, add a quart to the crankcase at refill. Run it at least until it warms up, so long as it's not still leaking water. Then change it. You can leave it longer if you want.

Good Luck
