99 ford ranger 2.5 5spd, replaced headgasket and I still appear to be getting coolant in the oil :annoyed:any ideas, could I have a bad block such as a crack in the coolant jacket, truck has never been overheated since I have owned it has 160k miles

More likely a cracked head but you would need to remove it again and have it tested...

Did you replace the head gasket for this reason or was the head gasket visibly damaged when you replaced it?

You can try removing the rad cap and putting a rubber glove over the rad opening and crank the engine...not necessary to start it so remove the coil power...if the glove expands you definitely have a leak somewhere that needs to be corrected.

Had head checked for warpage and cracks at the machine shop, passed with flying colors

Replaced head gasket and had head checked because of coolant in oil, and no I did not see any obvious bad spots in the gasket, that's why I had the head checked

You could drain the oil, leave drain plug off.
Make sure coolant is full then rent/get a cooling system leak tester.
Basically a hand pump with a pressure gauge that connects in place of the rad cap.
Pump it up to 20psi and wait for coolant to flow out the oil pan.

Outside of proof of the leak I don't think this would tell you much, but if head is 100% tested.................then has to be block.

Not sure on the front of the 2.5l, never taken one apart, but if someone in the past put in a longer bolt for water pump, or ??, they may have made a path from cooling system to oil pan.

Ya I know the water pump bots were a problem with the 300 fords, but I haven't put a water pump on and surely it would have occurred earlier because iv had the truck for prolly 2-3 years and 25k miles, so far since I had it iv done coil pack, plugs, wires, headgasket, entire upper gasket set, and iac

It's a slow leak because iv put 300m on since head gasket and just the tip is milky
