my coolant gauge on my 94 4.0L will only warm up to the lowest normal running temp then it will go back down below to the bottom of the gauge. it was ran low on coolant (my fault) but now its full again and it didnt fix the problem. any help would be great.

the stock guages are flakey and inaccurate. i would varify the temp with a real guage and if its where it belongs, ignore the factory guage (unless it starts going something really odd).

The extra check Wicked Sludge suggests is very appropriate (the stock gauge DOES suck), but the symptoms you describe are consistent with a leak or air in the cooling system.

So, do Wicked's check, but be ready for the worst. If a mechanical gauge confirms the fault, go looking for the leak. If it's internal, it's expensive. If you let it go that way, it will get much more expensive.

ya i just changed the thermostat and the problem seemed to go away. the wire for the gauge was loose so i re-crimped it back onto the post and all seems to be fine now lol thatnks for all the input.
