I'm new to the pretty new to the Ranger world and truck world in general. My experience in the past with trucks was an 89 Bronco II, and a 69 Ford F250. Both stayed unmodified with the exception of bolt on parts for the motor.
I do however have a bit of experience with cars. I have owned and modified mostly mustangs. I have owned and modified 8 Mustangs and as time has progressed my projects have become progressively more complicated. My current cars conist of a 2001 Mustang GT with a supercharged 4.6 DOHC, and a 93 2.3 powered Stang, and my newly aquired truck. The engine between the fenders in the 2001 was the first Lincoln motor that I know of to be retrofitted with an eaton m112 (done in early 2004). I just know that when I first began my project people said it couldn't be done, or "isn't worth the trouble." It is integrated to the GT computer and was a challenge to make everything work, not to mention the parts list was a lot longer than I expected, but not as long as the forums currently post.
I was looking for a change in type of projects and decided I wanted either a hot rod or a truck. I managed to kill two birds with the same stone when I picked up a 41 Ford Truck.
Here is where I am at on the build:
41 Cab chopped 4"
42 nose
40 something bed shortened 12"
87 ranger 2wd chassis
have started collecting parts for a 302 swap
Any suggestions on where to start for suspension, brake, axle, etc. upgrades would be greatly appreciated. My goal is to make this truck solid, reliable, and capable of towing my cars to the track.
I would like to use as many stock parts as possible to try and capture the spirit of hot rodding. I am a well versed pro at scrounging up parts and am looking forward to a new challenge.
