Converting to manual hubs, do I need this?

I'm going to convert to manual hubs on my 94 Explorer. Do I need to buy this kit?

well you could buy them, or get some at a junkyard or something. but for the sake of $20 i would just get the kit

Where do you see $20? The kit I posted is $67. Although I could probably get it for around $40 with my discount.

Just go to the local parts store and get spindle nuts for a Dana 44. I paid less than $4 per side. Same exact thing.

i concur, go to autoparts stores when you need a new alternator, or a power steering pump, or some antifreeze. they always jack up the price on "aftermarket" stuff

Always do research, it exists for cheaper somewhere else, always.

There is nothing special about them, and I'd never pay more than $20 shipped to my door.

You also need the 4 prong tool to turn them. A Dana hub nut. Any real parts store will have it, its usually black and has four prongs on it.

I don't need anything super strong. This is NOT an off-roader at all. I just need hubs that will reliably engage/disengage when I get stuck in the snow.

on my old B2 i just used a cold-cut and 3lb hammer, but i picked up this tool a few months ago and just used it today while removing the front shaft. it is awesome, deffinetly worth the $15

If You're not a hardcore wheeler You'll be happy with the Mile Marker hubs. I've been running them for 5 or 6 years with no problems whatsoever.
