ive got a 2.3l and im wanting to swap it to a 5.0L!!

i know some companies have the conversion kits for s-10 v8 conversions i was wondering if anyone offered the ranger mount kit!!

Whoa! Slow down! What year Ranger do you have? 2WD? 4WD? EFI or carb? There's plenty of factory stuff you can use to do this or you can go with aftermarket stuff from rad to rear diff. Give us some particulars and we can get you going in the right direction. I don't mean to sound like an a$$ but a few details can go a long way to saving you some headaches.

ok! its a 91' 2wd short bed single cab! its been lowered 5" in rear and 3" in front!! im realy just looking for like some bolt in motor mounts and maybe some crossmembers!! the main reason is b/c i dont have a welder!!

Look around on the forum, they are a quite a few guys with 5.0L's. Im sure you'll be able to figure something out from their posts.

ive been reading the conversion threads and didnt see much on any kits avaliable for bolt in mounts or maybe a few brackets here and there!

Hmm.. Have you checked Summit/JCWhitney? They may have it, or there's always good ole Google.

Don't need a conversion kit with the fords. Pick your trans. That is the biggest choice for what direction you want to go. Get some fox body mustang 5.0 mounts. Drill new holes in the engine crossmember for them. Bolt in. Only "conversion" part you need is a remote oil filter relocation kit.

There really are no bolt in mounts that require no drilling. No matter whose mounts you choose, you'll have to drill some holes in the crossmember. You'll also have to move the trans X member or fabricate a new one. A fabbed X member is a simple affair. Mine is one piece of 3-1/2" channel with a short piece of 1-1/4" angle welded to it. 2 holes punched in the angle for the trans mount, two holes under this for socket access and one hole per side to bolt it to the frame. Other parts needed are the filter relocator, headers, oilpan (1980-95 Fox platform dual sump) and radiator. All this can be sourced for far less than a swap kit will cost you.

hey baddad457 , do you have any pix? i got my 351w in with the home made 1/4'' plates. i'm concerned with the minimal clearance i have with the bottom of my new fox 6675 pan with the ttb bracket. i'd like to see your trans bracket pic , you removed the rubber mount and made it completely solid right ? im not trying to hyjack the thread, i'll pm you . thanx
good luck Dsc Motorsports . feel free to ask all the questions that you may have, the guys around these forums are good.

Don't have pics at the moment, the channel sits flat inside the frame rails with a single 1/2" bolt thru the frame flange to secure it. You can slide it forward and rear to do repair work, adjustments, whatever. I kept the stock C-4/Toploader trans mount (same for both) Took me all of 30 minutes to make it in my father's welding shop. No drilling there, I love Iron worker machines. Hell with a drill, punch the holes!!!!!!

If you use the C-4, you can use a stock Bronco II floor shifter.(this is for 83-94 Rangers, don't know about the later models) All you need to do is flip the C-4's shifter lever. To do so, remove the valve body and unscrew the large nut holding it in, pull the lever back, flip it, screw the nut back on. Then pull back the carpet. You should have a large floor panel in the tunnel top. A Bronco II shifter assembly is mounted to an identical panel. Use a 67-70 Mustang automatic shifter rod, cut it short to fit, and slide onto the Bronco II shifter lever, adjust it as neccessary and you're done. I've currently got an Explorer 8.8 in mine with 3.73's. Started off with the 7.5 and 3.45's, then replaced that with a 1990 Ranger 8.8 with 3.08's then later to the Explorer rear (narrowed to 52" axle to axle to tuck the 15x10 Aluminum slots under the bed)

Ok. Thanks for giving the details. Your choices are damn near endless. Fox body Mustang convertible mounts flipped left for right will work very well. A 90* oil filter adapter and some early Mustang tri-y headers will work great. There are a tonne of aftermarket shifters that will work great with your C4. I use a B&M StarShifter in mine and I have no complaints. It's all done with a cable and I didn't need to modify a thing to make it work. As for cooling, get a 91-94 Explorer 4 core rad and you'll be fine. I ran a Taurus e-fan for a long time but I switched to a Derale flex fan and I've been amazed at how well it cools my motor. Also,I'd recommend getting a good tranny cooler. I'm actually using a condenser from a commercial cooler (ie a big fridge) and my tranny has survived just fine as a result. I have the same rear setup that baddad started with (a 3.45 7.5 open) but I made a panhard bar for mine.

Hope that helps

Phil
